About Us

Meet the team!

We are the Wingfield's - The Wingers' to some.

We took inspiration for the Feather & Field brand from our name and our shared passion for the environment.

Between us we have spent over 30 years working in the field of conservation, and in more recent years have diversified into consultancy and complementary therapies.

We have two kids who are both very much involved in the business, plus two dogs and two cats who are not very helpful at all when it comes to candles.
Feather & Field is our fledgling family business, which was conceived and started to grow from our kitchen table. We aim to produce beautiful products that look and smell amazing. All our candles are hand poured and we have tried to use the most eco-friendly ingredients we could find.

Wax
We use a 90% blend of rapeseed and coconut wax, plus 10% soy. It is completely free from paraffin, palm, beeswax and synthetic additives.
Rapeseed in particular is great for bees?

Fragrances
We use fragrances oils. We spent a lot of time researching and testing these versus essential oils but felt overall these gave the best overall scent throw whether lit or not, plus offered better value for money as pure essential oils are incredibly expensive. We also looked at the environmental impact of both and we felt essential oils, whilst lovely, often need huge quantities of water to produce and habitat clearance to be able to grow the amount of raw materials needed (for example it takes 10,000kg of or roses to make 1kg of rose oil). We would have loved everything to be completely natural but took an overall view of things and decided this was the best choice by far. That said we have been careful to pick scents that still smell wonderful and natural, avoiding cheap chemically smelling blends.
